Weight Watchers Spokesman Charles Barkley
Well it’s been over two weeks since Charles Barkley, the Weight Watchers for men program spokesman made his infamous comment on a TNT basketball broadcast, ” I thought this was the greatest scam going-getting paid for watching sports, this Weight Watchers thing is a bigger scam.”
Charles did not realize his microphone was on when he made the comment to his broadcast partners Reggie Miller and Kevin Harlan. Since then Matthew Bautista of Weight Watchers announced they do not have a problem with Charles and he will continue being an endorser for the Weight Watchers for men.
Charles Just Created Buzz For Weight Watchers For Men
That shouldn’t be any surprise really. Charles did what any good spokesperson is paid to do. He got a lot of buzz going about the Weight Watchers for men program as well as Weight Watchers period. He put Weight Watchers in a lot of peoples minds who will Google it and check it out.
Scam is obviously a buzzword that is often used by promoters to attract attention. How many times have you seen it in the headline of an Email or the title of a blog post, just like this one. In both of those cases, however, the use is intentional. Charles Barkley’s usage of scam in reference to the Weight Watchers for men program was really taken out of context.
Weight Watchers has stood the test of time since its incorporation back in 1963. As far as its’ weight loss program, scam is one word that I don’t think anyone would take seriously. The media, however, knows that it can tap into the curiosity factor to lure readers by using it in their headlines. Add Charles Barkley’s high profile and you’ve get a winner.
Is Getting Paid To Lose Weight A Scam?

Weight Watchers - No Scam Here!
If you really look at what Charles was saying, it had nothing to do with the Weight Watchers for men program being a scam. He was saying that getting money for doing something that is benefiting him so much is a scam. In other words, the Weight Watchers for men program has worked so well for him, he really should be paying for it instead of getting paid to do it.
Once dubbed “The Round Mound of Rebound” thanks to the Weight Watchers for men program Sir Charles looks nothing like his old self. Based on the interest he has stirred up, despite it being by accident, Weight Watchers for men just may have gotten a real bargain for their money. I don’t think this is a scam at all. Looks more like a win – win situation.
